At the same time, I was buying VHS copies of Hong Kong films from dealers at monthly comics shows in Manhattan and, starting in the fall of 1994, from the legendary 42nd Chamber, a video dealer housed in an old newsstand at 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue, in the shadow of Deuce theaters that used to run Hong Kong kung fu movies nonstop. The dealer moved up a block a year later to a storefront on 43rd Street and became The 43rd Chamber, which I visited regularly until 2000.
