MIXTRAX takes the tools of Pioneer's professional DJ line and sends them out across a new lineup of portable and automotive products via music management software with a cloud approach. The MIXTRAX software, available as a free download at -global.com/en/, analyzes your music collection for various attributes, including tempo and beats per minute (BPM). If you have an internet connection, your music's metadata is compared to a database on Pioneer's cloud, speeding the analysis. The music is then categorized as "Dance," "Chill" or "Thump," and you're on your way to creating mixes. MIXTRAX can automatically deliver a non-stop mix of tracks based on the information that it has collected. The software "identifies the best transition points for each song in the music library and seamlessly mixes and blends the tracks together, much like a DJ performing live," according to Pioneer.

MIXTRAX is a technology that has to be experienced to be fully understood. Currently, the free software is only compatible with Windows-based systems. A Mac version is in the planning stages. iPhone users can download a free version of the MIXTRAX interface at the Apple App Store (A full version is available for $1.99). The iPhone version of MIXTRAX analyzes the music library stored on the device, and creates Dance, Chill and Thump playlists that can be played back through headphones, an audio dock or with Pioneer's AppRadio car radio interface.
